Update on COVID-19

I want to provide an update on how MSS is responding to the coronavirus and its resulting illness, COVID-19. I assure you that we are paying close attention and taking this health concern seriously, while focusing on proactive measures.

As we monitor the emergence of positive test cases in our State, we are being thoughtful about what plans should be in place as this scenario evolves. I want to emphasize that everyone’s health and safety is our first concern.

We have taken steps to keep people healthy and minimize exposure, including:

  • Increased cleaning and sanitizing our buildings and vehicles with a strong anti-viral and bacterial cleaner.

  • Promoting vigilant use of precautions such as thorough and frequent handwashing, not shaking hands or giving high fives.

  • Asking people to stay home if they are sick.

  • Canceling public events and conducting meetings via phone or remote technology when possible.

  • Limiting visitors to our location, including tours and some volunteers.

  • Reducing some community engagement activities and planning alternate activities in our centers that are fun and engaging.

  • Social Distancing – increasing efforts to maintain personal space – 6 feet is recommended.

  • Screening individuals’ temperatures upon arrival.

  • Identifying areas to keep a person isolated until they can be transported home if they exhibit symptoms

Our programs will remain open and operating in our typical business hours barring major updates to guidance we receive.

We are working with the Minnesota Legislature and the Department of Human services to create contingency plans in the case of partial or full closure.

We will be monitoring events closely and adjusting our plans as needed. We will promptly communicate any significant issues or changes with you.
